Job title:Operations Manager

Department: Executive Management

Reports to: Board of Directors

Direct Report: Country Manager, Functional Managers

 

Purpose

Determines the long-term strategic objectives of the business working with other members of the board of directors. Ensure business growth through directing and managing business operations activities to ensure these are delivered inaccordance with the organizational strategy.

Toplan, direct and manage the performance of the company’s operations, as dictated by the overall strategy agreed by the board of directors, so as to maintain and develop business growth in accordance with the agreed business strategy.

Duties & Responsibilities

Essential duties/ key job roles and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Strategy Formulation & Implementation

Support the overall process of management and corporate decision-making to ensure the organization maximizes its short, medium and long-term profitability and returns to its shareholders.

Develop,review, and report on country operations strategy, ensuring the strategic   objectives  are   well   understood  and   executed   by  the heads of department.

Management and oversight of all back-office functions including:

i.                   Information Technology.

ii.                 Finance.

iii.               Sales and Marketing.

iv.               Human Resources.

·        Maintain   the   administration, budgeting, monitoring,reporting, communication and liaisonon all company affairs at a level acceptable to the board.

·        Implement, maintain   and   manage  an   effective   system  of   controls throughout   the   company, covering   non-financial   as  well   as   financial controls.

·        Review annual budget prior to Board approval and ensures resources are prudently managed within those budget guidelines according to company policy and within ethical corporate governance guidelines.

·        Build and lead an effective and cohesive management team.

·        Manage   the   performance  of   all   functional  group   heads   and   country managers through the formal performance management system.

·        Strategic Plans and Objectives

·        Group Functions Operational Plans and Reports

·        Group Management Accounts

·        Group Operations Reports

 

Qualifications

·        Bachelor’s degree.

·        A relevant postgraduate business qualification

 

Required Working Experience:

Minimum   of  12   years   operations  experience   in   the  telecoms industry, 5   years  of   which   must  have   been   spent  in   a   senior management role.

Knowledge, Skills & Attitude

The following are required of the Operations Manager:

·        Extensive contacts within the industry and the innate ability to create and   manage   relationships   to  drive   the   achievement  of   strategic objectives.

·        Proven   skills   in  managing   staff   and  ability   to   build  and   support effective teams;

·        Strong   critical   thinking  and   creative   problem-solving   skills;able   to balance attention to detail with big-picture thinking;

·        Flexible, with a sense of humour, comfort with change, and a positive and infectious attitude;
